Urge Congress to Stand with Asylum Seekers

The challenges plaguing the U.S. asylum system will not be fixed with a bill that will end asylum as we know it.

This is why we are deeply concerned about two bills currently in Congress: Senate bill S.1473 and its House companion bill HR 3234. Make no mistake about it: If these bills become law, we will see an increase in family separations, an unrealistic standard for asylum seekers to prove that their lives are endangered in their country of origin, and mass expulsions of people who are seeking safety and basic human rights for themselves and their loved ones.

We must act urgently: Please join thousands of HIAS supporters in calling on Congress to withdraw this disastrous bill and welcome asylum seekers.
